I like the Cadillac ELR. In 15-20 years they’ll be great obscure, comfortable, commuters.

I agree, they look fantastic.

I really like the ELR... but, much the same problem as when they were new, I’m not paying $25k for a fancy used Volt.

I really wish GM had put some  beans in the ELR - it’s a great looking car needing a Ludicrous mode...

That’s the thing, it was launched at almost the same time the Model S got the crazy performance stuff. Had it been launched at the same time as the Volt was, it would’ve been a hit. Or at least a slightly smaller flop.

They look fantastic, but the closest one to me is $32,00 0 for a 2016. They are so pretty I would give up the utility of the lift back on my Volt for one if they weren’t so pricey.

I can get a 2016 Volt for $18,500. Not only is it cheaper, but the Volt is a Gen 2 so it has more range on pure electric 53 v 35 and burns regular instead of premium.

I did find this 2016 ELR with a crazy low 3403 miles.

A quick search shows me that these have surprisingly held their value well. Just get a Volt and throw a Cadillac badge on it and you just raised the resale by 50% at the very least

I mean... they were $75k originally, so not really. They’re great cars, just not when Volts are $10-15k cheaper .

I really want one. I’ve made a ton of posts about them over the years. But $25-30 k in a used Cadillac also buys a 3rd Gen CTS Vsport, 2nd Gen CTS-V, ATS Coupe + mods , or a CT6.

Looks like I missed their original MSRP. Honestly unless you really want the e conomy you should go for the other, way more appealing (at least to me)  options.

But I get the charm of the ELR, my hospital I frequent has one in the same spot and it always catches my eye.

It’s a very handsome car and I still want one. It’s just impossible to justify considering its cost. I’m really waiting on ATS-V Coupe prices to come down a bit further.

Mmm the ATS-V. I love how the CTS and ATS-V look. I would be fine with either but I feel like the ATS is more flingable, if that makes sense. Fast as hell but in a smaller package

Yeah, if I build a house in the next couple years I’ll probably be looking for a commuter. My TA could do it, but I’d like something a bit more modern.

The CTS Vsport is the low key sleeper of the bunch. TTV6 making mid 400hp it a surprisingly light package. The only downsides are the lack of manual transmission (point ATS-V) and a rear diff that isn’t the strongest out there.

The really oddball sleeper is the Buick Regal GS. They’re in the teens cost wise, had a stick option, and with under $1k in mods will make 310whp... or I’ll just buy a Volt because I already have two sports cars.

If it weren’t for that giant, hideous grille... I occasionally see a couple around town, and the best was going over a bridge at dusk one evening, coming up behind a black one. Those taillights on the black haunches looked so damn good.

Actually the Regal would make a lot of sense, it gets better mileage than the Caddys and like you said can be fun too. Now I had no idea they had a stick so that's news but pretty cool. But I see how everything comes full circle to the Volt/ELR because you already have sports cars and they would make sense economy-wise. Or, you could sell one of your other cars...
